| General Overview | Karane is what one would commonly class as a 'Tsundere'. She is straightforward, honest and abrupt with how she speaks and feels. She is not one to 'beat around the bush' and has a very short fuse on her temper. She is also sometimes insecure about how she looks, however this has not stopped her from achieving what she wants from life. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths Include Engineering Knowledge Karane is bit of an Enigneering nerd. She has a great admiration of Engineers of past famous starships. She has spent most of her life reading and studying Engineering for Starships, ever since she learnt about Commander Tucker of the NX 01 Enterprise. Strength She is stronger than she looks. Karane actually works out quite a lot. She likes to try and maintain her strength which she believes she needs to do her job effectively. Don't challenge her to an arm wrestling match... Quick Thinker Karane can think quick on her feet. She can come up with solutions quickly and under pressure. Being an Engineer she needs to make these decisions when things go wrong. Weaknesses Include: Tsundere Karane is a total Tsundere. She is quick to lose her temper and to reject compliments. She is not honest with herself at times either and often treats people coldly until she gets close with them. Self Concious Karane is very self concious about her body. She often believes she is not feminine enough to ever get a boyfriend. She is seen as more of a tomboy by her family and others around her, and this has made her jealous of other womens 'assets'. Temper Karane has a very bad temper. If she loses it then its never going to be good. She can put a Klingon to shame when she loses it. She doesn't lose it often, because she's been really trying her hardest to keep it under check, especially after making Chief Engineer. |

| Ambitions | Karane has a few ambitions. She has already made Chief Engineer but wouldn't mind one day running a shipyard or Starship design team. She would also like to one day actually get into a relationship, keep it and have children. She knows the clock is ticking on this one, so she's still a little unsure if this will ever happen. | |

| Personal History | Karane was born in Niigata a large city in the country of Japan. She was the second daughter and second child of the family. Her sister being foue years older than her. As a child she showed curosity towards how things worked and was often found fiddling with something she had found around the house. When she was eight years old she found an interesting book on old engineers in the local library. She took it home and became hooked. By the age of twelve she knew everything about a famous engineer called Charles Tucker III, the Chief Engineer of the Starship Enterprise NX 01. She also enjoyed reading about other famous engineers such as Isambard Kingdom Brunel and George Stephenson from England. From then she was hooked on being an Engineer. Throughout school she adapted a tomboy attitude and joined the robotics club at her school. She was the only girl in the club but that didn't stop her. She became well known for being good with her hands and was often found building and repairing the robots that the boys broke. At age Eighteen Karane graduated from her high school. She decided that she wanted to be just like Tucker and become a Chief Engineer of a Starship. Therefore she applied for Starfleet Academy. She worked hard at the entrance exam and was accepted into the Engineering Corps Training. With Starfleet undergoing a 'technological reform' of sorts it was an exciting time for engineers. More advanced technology was being built, adapted and put on starships. There was always something new and exciting, from new warp core designs to advanced in shields and phaserm technologies. After four years of study Karane was accepted as an Ensign aboard the USS Wellington. The Wellington was a Miranda Class starship and even though it was classed as light cruiser it was assigned to a five year patrol of the Klingon Neutral Zone. The Wellington didn't see much combat in its time, however it did have a few minor incidents and interactions with the occassional Klingon battlecruiser. The Wellington was basically there to keep the Klingons on their side. After three years Karane was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. She showed promise as an engineer and even though she had a bad temper, the engineers around her learnt how to interact and work with her. They used her knowledge and she was quickly becoming the backbone of the entire team. After two more years, the Wellington was pulled back for its five year refit and resupply. Karane along with many of the crew were put up for crew rotations. At the time the USS Ark Royal was looking for engineering staff. Karane was shocked when she was transfered to a Constitution Class. Although the design was old, the Constitution Class Starships still held prestige and were a very highly respected position within the fleet. To serve on one could only be topped by serving on the USS Enterprise under Captain Kirk himself. Although it was a prestige assignment, it was still a job to Karane and she went straight to work. She worked hard and after only two years she was approached by the Chief Engineer. He saw her potential and how she could one day become a great Chief Engineer of her own. She found herself promoted not only to the rank of Lieutenant, but also in position to that of Assistant Chief. Being the assistant chief put her in a position of power she had never had before. She enjoyed it, but also learnt that she had the ability to command others around her. Although many of the people sometimes feared her at first, they eventually learnt that Karane has her own way of running things. If things run smoothly and she is happy, then there is no problems. But if you slack off or cause problems for her, only then does it become a problem, for you. Eventually after three years the Ark Royal was recalled from its five year mission. It was up again for a minor refit, repairs and resupply. Karane knew that most of the senior staff would be departing. This was their final tour of duty. Karane was hoping to stay aboard. She got the good and bad news at the same time. The good news was that she was going to be staying aboard the Ark Royal. However the bad news was that the ships chief engineer was leaving the ship. As someone she looked upto and respected, this was devestating for her. However he told her firmly to look after his engine room that he had been attending to for over twenty years and then he gave her a special reward. He said "This engine room is yours now" before passing her the transfer papers making her the new Chief Engineer of the Ark Royal. Once Karane had said her goodbyes, she got to work on the refit of the ship, making sure it was upto her standards for when the new crew arrived. |
