| Physical Description | Rash’kai looks off, by Human standards — too thin, too long-limbed. In truth, he is proportioned precisely for a Caitian. His muscle is laid in lean ropes rather than heavy slabs; long legs, long arms, and a narrow torso built for speed and leverage. His digitigrade stance — balanced on the balls of his feet rather than the heel — alters his posture dramatically, and demands tailoring beyond standard issue for the uniform to sit correctly. His fur blends from burnt umber across the shoulders and torso into a warmer orange midtone along the thighs, calves, and lower arms. His claws are consciously held retracted, a habit enforced by years of muscle memory rather than regulation. Golden-yellow, feline eyes stand out sharply against the warm-toned fur of his face. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Rash’kai is never one to shout unless it is required. Never one to run unless there is no other option. Patience is his defining characteristic. His unrushed demeanour conceals a fast, disciplined mind, one that is always analysing a situation for tactical advantage. His Caitian heritage is ever-present — body language in a room is unconsciously catalogued, weighed, and remembered. |
|
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Caitians define stillness. Rash’kai can hold a crouch without sound or visible movement for as long as circumstances require, muscles locked in controlled suspension rather than strain. Felinoid speed, agility, and predatory instinct shape his physical presence. His physiology favours leverage and balance over brute strength, allowing rapid acceleration, controlled grappling, and efficient use of an opponent’s mass. Power is expressed through positioning, not force. Enhanced night and low-light vision grants Rash’kai a significant advantage in dim or unstable lighting conditions. A higher density of rod cells allows superior motion detection and contrast sensitivity, but at the cost of reduced cone density. As a result, colour discrimination—particularly along the red–green spectrum—is diminished, with hue often secondary to brightness, texture, and movement. Rash’kai excels at reading tactical environments: spatial relationships, threat vectors, posture shifts, and readiness states are catalogued instinctively. However, social nuance is less accessible. Non-Caitian species offer limited scent cues, removing a primary channel of emotional and contextual information. As a result, interpersonal complexity must be inferred cognitively rather than perceived instinctively, making tactical situations clearer to him than social ones. |

| Ambitions | Rash'kai, when he left Cait was entering the larger galaxy as The Far Step for his clan. That means learning other cultures. That means sharing Caitian culture. That melding is a primary drive behind him. It is not just a responsibility, its a matter of cultural pride. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | Music. Art. Literature. The exploration of culture through its media. |
| Personal History | Third of three to Clan Rash’kai, born on the planet Cait, K’Erinn’s path was set forth from the moment he was conceived. Known as The Far Step to the Clan, the Thirdborn is sent outward upon their rise from litterhood — to bear the name, and the world, into the stars and their many societies. To learn of other cultures, and in turn, to teach of Caitian ways. Duty. Responsibility. Honor. These are the principles that define K’Erinn, and the drive that compels him to carry the name of Rash’kai beyond the Cait system. His time during litterhood was not one of idle youth, but preparation for travel far from home. Starfleet was the obvious choice. Already a melding pot of species and cultures, it aligned naturally with the expectations placed upon a Thirdborn. Rash’kai nevertheless found the Academy to be a drastic adjustment in many respects. Chief among these was navigating extracurricular social interaction. Caitians relied heavily on scent cues for social context. Interaction both within and beyond the Clan used minimal body language and tonal variation. Among non-Caitian species, much of that information was simply absent. Despite the learning curve, Rash’kai found the majority of his time at the Academy enjoyable. Most challenges were straightforward, if demanding. It was during his third year that cadets who had opted for Security specialisation were deployed to South America and instructed to survive for one week. Of the sixty cadets and five officers comprising the team — Rash’kai among them — fewer than a third returned. There was no failure of command, nor any breakdown in discipline. Some situations simply failed to account for all variables, and a migrating nest of highly toxic insects proved to be one such oversight. The surviving cadets, along with one of the five officers evacuated from the area, recovered in Starfleet Medical. While the exercise had served as a hard lesson, Starfleet ultimately elected to waive the survival credentials requirement. Graduating in 2286, Ensign Rash’kai looked ahead to his first posting: the Miranda-class USS Charon, NCC-1953. Transitioning from a graduating class of over thirty thousand cadets to a starship crew of approximately two hundred and fifty was another system shock. Clan life had been tight-knit, and the Academy itself a dramatic departure from that norm. Dropping to fewer than three hundred shipmates was a welcome change — though still an adjustment. During his first two years of service, the Charon operated primarily along the Romulan Neutral Zone, conducting patrols and responding to emergent threats. Pirate activity and black-market smuggling accounted for the majority of their engagements. In 2287, following a sustained demonstration of competence, Rash’kai was promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade. A year later, transfer orders reassigned him to the Excelsior-class USS Endurance. The Klingon Neutral Zone proved markedly more active than its Romulan counterpart. Orions, Kzinti, Gorn, Ferasans, and Klingons alike contributed to a constant undercurrent of instability. There was never a dull week aboard the Endurance. Security duty was continuous, protecting both ship and colony interests from raiders and border flare-ups alike. By the conclusion of his service aboard the vessel, Rash’kai had attained the rank of full Lieutenant and assumed leadership of a security team under the department’s Chief. In 2290, orders came once more. This time, to a Constitution-class cruiser — the class every officer aspired to serve aboard. The USS Ark Royal would be Rash’kai’s next home. |
